Castro
Castro is a mediaeval town situated between Leuca and Otranto, on the Adriatic see.
From here in particularly clear days you can see Albania.
The town is divided into two areas, Upper Castro and Marine Castro.
In the first one you can see the ruins of a 16th century castle and an ex-cathedral of the 12th century.
The second one represents the seaside resort, with its harbour and boats, where important activities are diving, boat hiring and excursions.
Near Castro we find the most suggestive caves of the coast: Grotta Romanelli of the Palaeolithic era (35,000 years ago) and Grotta Zinzulusa with its stalactites and stalagmites.
